Indications for use
– prevention of viral hepatitis A in children aged 12 months and older
Vaccination should be carried out at least 2 weeks before expected contact with the causative agent of viral hepatitis A.
Method of administration and dosage
Dosage
Vaccination consists of 2 doses (primary and booster doses), administered according to the following schedule:
Primary vaccination
Patients aged 12 months to 18 years – one single dose of 0.5 ml (25 units).
The safety and effectiveness of vaccination in children under 12 months of age has not been established.
Booster dose
Children and adolescents vaccinated between 12 months and 18 years of age should receive a 0.5 mL (25 IU) booster dose 6 to 18 months after the first dose.
HAV antibodies persist for at least 10 years after the second (booster) dose.
Method of administration
The vaccine is administered intramuscularly, preferably into the deltoid muscle of the shoulder. In infants, the vaccine can be administered in the anterolateral region of the thigh, if the deltoid muscle is underdeveloped.
IT IS PROHIBITED TO ADMINISTER THE VACCINE SUBCUTANEOUSLY OR INTRADERMALLY AS THIS METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION MAY NOT PROVIDE AN OPTIMAL LEVEL OF PROTECTION!
For patients with bleeding disorders who are at risk of bleeding after intramuscular injection (for example, patients with hemophilia), other measures are possible, such as administering the vaccine after anti-hemophilic or similar therapy or under pressure. For such patients, subcutaneous administration of the vaccine is possible.
VAKTA VACCINE CANNOT BE ADMINISTERED INTRAVENOUSLY!
