Xenical (Orlistat), 120mg, 84

This is a medicine used to treat obesity. It acts on the digestive tract and prevents the digestion of about a third of the fat in the food you eat. The supplement binds to enzymes in your digestive tract (lipases) and prevents them from breaking down some of the fats you eat during meals. Undigested fat is not absorbed and excreted from the body.
The drug is indicated for the treatment of obesity in combination with a calorie-restricted diet.
The medicine cannot be taken
if you are allergic to orlistat or any other ingredient,
if you suffer from chronic malabsorption syndrome (insufficient absorption of nutrients from the digestive tract),
if you suffer from cholestasis (liver disease),
if you are breastfeeding.
Always take your medicine exactly as your doctor told you. If you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
The usual dose is one orlistat 120 mg capsule with each of the three main meals per day.
Orlistat only works in the presence of dietary fat. Therefore, you can avoid taking it if you skip a main meal or eat a low-fat meal.
Tell your doctor if for any reason you do not take the medicine as prescribed. Otherwise, your doctor may change your treatment unnecessarily, suggesting lack of effect or poor tolerability.
Your doctor will stop treatment after 12 weeks if you have not lost at least 5% of your body weight since starting treatment.
The drug was studied in long-term clinical studies lasting up to 4 years.
If you took more than you should
If you take more capsules than prescribed, or if someone accidentally takes your medicine, call your doctor, pharmacist or hospital as medical attention may be needed.
If you forget to take it
If you forget to take your medicine, take it only if you notice you have missed it within one hour of eating; then continue taking it at your usual time. Do not take an additional dose. If you forget to take it several times, you should tell your doctor and follow his advice. Do not change the dose yourself without your doctor’s instructions.
